The importance of staying connected with friends, family, and colleagues cannot go unnoticed. So, sharing contact with our loved ones or our new connections should not be a hassle. Apple understood this and rolled out NameDrop with iOS 17.

What is NameDrop in iOS 17?

NameDrop is a powerful and efficient tool that is designed to simplify the process of sharing contacts between Apple devices. This features discards the need to manually input your details or transfer the same through third-party apps. The best part is that, since it is integrated into AirDrop, it’s lightning fast.

Whether you’re networking at a conference, collaborating on a project with colleagues, or simply looking for a more convenient method of sharing phone numbers and email addresses, NameDrop comes in handy.

How to use NameDrop in iOS 17

First you need to download iOS 17 when it’s released by going to Settings > General > Software Update.

Bluetooth and your iPhone’s Wi-Fi feature will also need to be switched on. You can do both of these from the Control Center.

After doing all of the above, follow the step

Switching On AirDrop

Before using NameDrop in iOS 17, you have to turn on AirDrop for everyone. You can do this by following these steps:

  1. Open the Settings app and select the General tab.
  2. Click on AirDrop.
  3. Change your settings to Everyone for 10 Minutes.

Sharing Your Contact Details

After turning on AirDrop on your iPhone, and ensuring that the other user has done likewise, you can share your contact details by doing the following.

  1. Move your iPhone right next to the other person’s device.
  2. Wait for your contact cards to appear on each other’s iPhone.
  3. Click on the option to share your contact details.

In addition to using your iPhone, you can share contact details with Apple Watch users as well. The process works exactly the same.

2. Verify if you’ve enabled AirDrop for Everyone on both devices.
